The Sedona Method is a simple yet potent technique designed to help individuals release painful, disruptive, or unwanted emotions and situations in real time. By employing this method, you can effectively let go of emotions and address issues that might be hindering your ability to live a calm and peaceful life. This technique provides an opportunity for emotional release and resolution, empowering you to move forward with greater ease and tranquility.
A simplified version of the Sedona Method
Step 1
Make yourself comfortable
- Focus on an emotion or a situation you would like to resolve or feel better about.
Step 2
Ask yourself
- Could I welcome this feeling?
- Could I allow this feeling to be here?
- Could I let this feeling go?
Answer honestly, Yes or No
Step 3
Ask yourself
- Am I willing to let this feeling or situation go?
Answer honestly, Yes or No
Step 4
Ask yourself
When would I be willing to let it go?
This is an invitation to say, βNOWβ
Step 5
Repeat all the steps until you let go of the feeling
2. Sooth your discomfort by comforting yourself

When presented with a stressful and challenging situation where you feel your emotions stirring, acknowledge the situation and your emotions.
Then talk to yourself with the same kindness and care you would offer an upset child or close friend.
By doing this you set a new foundation for reacting differently to the same situation in the future.
Self-soothing also applies to moments of failure with our goals, like a water fast.
Science has shown we get faster back on track when we comfort and soothe our failure. Pat yourself on the back, say some encouraging words, and try again.
Focus on the progress you have made so far and use it as motivation to keep going.
With each attempt, you will learn and grow, leading to greater success in the future.
3. Focus on your heart
When undesirable emotions arise in your body, like stress or anxiety, your stomach might tighten up and you start to feel tense and uneasy.
The more you focus on the area of discomfort, the stronger the emotion will grow and intensify.
Instead, breathe deep and focus on your heart. Also, try to breathe through your heart.
This technique, with practice, will teach you how to dissolve uncomfortable emotions or at least reduce the intensity of them.
4. Energy Release
During the process of life, we accumulate and store βnegativeβ emotions such as anger, sadness, and anxiety, known as trauma, in the cells of our body.
There are many ways to clean your body from your trauma and pent-up energy.
When we undergo a water fast, the stored traumas get released, and old wounds tear up, in the form of unresolved issues.
When confronted with these traumas there are certain things you can do.
From an energy perspective, you need to release the stored and pent-up energy within.
Here are some suggestions on how to release energy:
1. Crying – A very effective way to release trapped emotions is to cry them out. If you have difficulties crying, watch a sad movie and let the movie trigger your tears.
2. Screaming – Clearing your trapped emotions by screaming them out. Think of the event or person who hurt you. Take a big pillow, and smash it in the ground while screaming at the top of your lungs. By doing this you also clear pent-up energy in your body like stress from a stressful day.
3. Have someone to talk to – Have a friend or maybe a Spiritual therapist to talk through any difficult situation that may occur. If you do not have this option to talk to anyone, get yourself a teddy bear that symbolizes you as a child and talk to it and comfort it.
4. Osho Dynamic Meditation – A very effective way to release pent-up energy or stored trauma is to practice Osho Dynamic Meditation. This meditation consists of five separate stages where four are active and one is passive. During the active stages, you release pent-up emotions like anger, anxiety, and stress accumulated during a usual day as well as accessing stored emotions accumulated during an entire lifetime.
This meditation takes approximately 1 hour in total where the active stage is 45 minutes and the passive stage consists of 15 minutes.
Stage 1 – Deep, fast, chaotic breathing
Stage 2 – Playfully act out all your madness
Stage 3 – Raise your arms straight up, and jump up and down continuously while βcalling outβ βHoβ repeatedly.
Stage 4 – Raise your arms straight up again – Freeze exactly as you are and do not move a muscle.
Stage 5 – Celebrate and rejoice through dancing joyfully

5. EFT-Tapping

EFT tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a form of alternative therapy that involves using your fingers to tap on specific meridian points on your body while reciting a prayer.
During EFT tapping, you focus on a specific issue or emotion that you want to address (such as anxiety, stress, phobia, or cravings). You then tap on specific points on the body while reciting positive affirmations, phrases, or prayers. The tapping is thought to help release blocked energy within the body, promote relaxation, and reduce the intensity of negative emotions.
EFT tapping has been used to treat a variety of conditions, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, chronic pain, addiction, and weight loss.
These are mere suggestions and should not be taken as psychological advice. If you have psychological problems please do contact a doctor for medical advice.

This is great self coaching and super self-care that everyone should pay attention to. I’m not super familiar with water fasting, but I know that fasting in general can bring up some unpleasant emotional aspects. These are great ways to care for oneself.

I love the idea of starting by simply acknowledging the discomfort in your body. Emotions can be so overwhelming you donβt even know how to start, and starting simply can make it seem so much easier to manage. Great post!

Thank you Valery. Some emotions are pretty tough to handle and if we have not learnt how to deal with them they can inflict serious damage on our wellbeing. π

I’m not familiar with a water fast but I would definitely recommend talking to a physician before trying this since it can be unhealthy for certain people that have complex health conditions.
spirit.expanding
Thank you for pointing this out. I will add a cautionary recommendation to this it to this post as well. It is very important to contact a doctor prior a water fast especially if you have problems with your health. Thank you Pantea π
